Linking your AUK membership to your cycling club
As part of your AUK membership you can link to one cycling club and/or to one local Cycling UK group. However there is no requirement to do this, many of our members do not belong to other clubs. If you do link to one or two clubs, you can declare which club you want to use as your “ACP club choice” – this can be one of your linked clubs or Audax UK. If you have not yet found these options, logon to your account, and from the “My account” menu choose “Membership details”. Note that each member of a household needs to do this for their own account.
If your club is not available to select, then it can be added on request – please fill this form for the membership secretary to action.
The club information is used for two purposes:
a) Compiling points gained per club – from all affiliated members and from the “top 6” riders in each club, with separate results for Cycling UK groups and for other clubs. (check the results page on the website)
b) For ACP (Audax Club Parisien) records – when you complete a BRM event Audax UK submits results to ACP. As they have information from riders worldwide, they do not recognise our Audax UK membership numbers as a unique identifier, but use a combination of your name and your club. So the results we send them have to include this data. The logic to derive the appropriate club value is as follows:
• If you have declared a preference we'll use that
• If you have not declared a preference but have a main club set we'll use that
• If you have not declared a preference, have no main club but have a CUK club, we'll use that
• If you have no clubs linked at all or have selected Audax UK as your ACP club, we'll use Audax UK
Note that if you want to use your BRM event results (which are sent to ACP) to qualify for PBP or you want to claim any ACP awards, it is much easier if all your records contain the same name/club combination. To help this process, the first time you complete a BRM ride in any season, the ACP club selected for that result is copied to a separate field in your membership record, and this value will be used for all subsequent BRM rides that season. This field will be cleared at the start of the season - so you can change your club(s) any time, but the ACP club will be constant throughout the season.
