Description

The Mendip Transmitter |Was built by the BBC between 1967 to 1969 to provide UHF TV Coverage to Avon.Somerset.south Gloucestershire.West Wiltshire.and North Dorset It stands at 293m(950 feet) tall on Penn hill (305m
1000 feet and is one of only five cylindrical steel tube masts remaining in the UK
First transmission was BBC 2 on 1st of December 1969 with BBC1 and ITV following in May 1970 New antenna were installed in 2009 for Digital switchover
Weather permitting the Mendip Transmitter will be visible on the south horizon shortly after leaving the outskirts of Bath and will appear at various times on the ride
