Description

Pay tribute to Lord Byron as you visit his ancestral home at Newstead Abbey on this loop amid the northern hills and valleys of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. Mainly follows minor roads, but with a bit of gravel.
The four words most associated with Byron also capture the varied nature of this amended 106 kilometre route - but at least it's not 'dangerous to know'! The occasional built-up stretches are regularly interspersed with lovely rural interludes, with a mixture of green fields and woods, and a traffic-free cycleway through the landscaped grounds of Newstead Abbey. Some unavoidable but short stretches of main road and a couple of gravel sections add to the variety.
