My view is that the permanent is an event along the organiser’s predetermined route carefully crafted to test the entrant’s abilities through a set of phases taken in order, which strongly aligns to the calendar edition of the same name.
Reversing or otherwise altering the route does not comply and so those flexible options are turned off and not available.
Please note that the event uses minor roads/lanes during the hours of darkness.
