Description
The Lincolnshire Poacher 400 A Big Day Out on the Flatlands!
Set your sights on a true east-coast epic: a brand-new 400 km Audax inspired by the legendary Lincolnshire Poacher. Starting and finishing at Meridian Point, Cleethorpes, this ride captures the very best of Lincolnshires open skies, quiet lanes, and coastal character.
Roll out along the seafront before turning inland to climb gently into the Lincolnshire Wolds, tracing the ridgelines towards Louth, then dropping to the coast at Mablethorpe. Spin south through Chapel St Leonards, skirting the bright lights of Skegness before the first major stop at Burgh Le Marsh.
From here, the route heads west across the countys heart to Bardney, where you join the Water Railway for a fast, scenic run down to Boston. Push on through Spaldings fenland lanes to Newark-on-Trent, where the River Trent takes over as your guide north.
Follow the flow past wide fields and winding banks to Gainsborough, then strike east for the Humber and the final control at Barton-upon-Humber. With the finish line in your sights, the last leg traces the South Humber Bank back through Grimsby, before one final coastal spin brings you home to the Cleethorpes promenade and a well-earned finish at Meridian Point.
A fast, flat mostly! 400 km of big skies, sea air, and classic Lincolnshire roads the perfect early-season challenge for anyone chasing distance, dawn-to-dusk horizons, and a proper taste of the Poachers county.
