Communication changes at Audax UK

We’re making a number of changes to how Audax UK communicates with members and the wider cycling community — and we need your help!

Long distance cycling is going from strength to strength; people seem to appreciate the simplicity of audaxing and the generosity of our community sharing routes and experiences.

So, we’re looking for fresh ways to explain our approach to celebrate our special ethos and welcome riders looking for challenges without the competition.

In recent months we’ve been working hard to tell our story on social media. On Instagram, Facebook and YouTube we’ve been sharing tales of the rides that organisers offer, talking to the people who make our community special and nudging people towards the wealth of events across the country.

We are now integrating this more with our membership magazine, Arrivée, where we aim to share more about the calendar and DIY rides that people are doing, the tech and techniques which get audaxers through the KMs and celebrate some of the characters involved in long distance cycling in the UK.

How you can help:

We’d love to keep hearing your stories and views to inspire people of all abilities to try new routes or tackle fresh challenges. Don’t be shy about your writing skills; we’ll tidy up any text and even your pictures alone could be enough to get the message over.

In particular, feedback suggests that cyclists are most inspired by tales of audaxing events and are interested in reading about the people and places that riders encounter on the road. There is also a lot of interest in kit and the practicalities of tackling randonneuring.

And, they like the idea of an occasional debate – when we can explore, in a balanced way, the issues that get into our heads late into the night on a lonely road.

We may not publish as many stories about overseas touring as we have in the past, but if there is a strong audaxing angle, keep those articles coming, along with the awesome images.

Keep sending your stories and pictures to arrivee@audax.uk

If you’d like to be more involved, we need a few volunteers who can help us develop content; get in touch if you enjoy capturing great pictures or writing and are happy to take on commissions to report on events or themes.

Changes at Arrivée:

The Summer edition of Arrivée is the last one to be edited by Ged and Tony Lennox. After eight years steering our membership magazine, they are stepping down and handing over to Jem Collins who has been looking after our social media for several months.

The Lennox brothers have transformed the magazine during their management; their contribution has often gone way beyond the terms of their contract. Audax UK is grateful for their contribution.

Jem (pictured above) is an active cyclist and editor and has been charged with the task of building on the magazine’s strengths whilst broadening the range of audax-related content. She will also ensure that some of the excellent content which we print reaches a wider audience in the cycling world through our social media channels.

She can be contacted at editor@audax.uk
