Description
Closely following the classic London Wales London 400km route from just west of London to the edge of Wales and back as a basic event for people who want a 400km BRM under their belt this year. The ride takes in some of the best landscape of Southern Britain: the Chilterns, the Cotswolds, the Forest of Dean. Controls include historic Woodstock and Tewkesbury. There are classic climbs at Symonds Yat and Somerset Memorial and you cross the dramatic Severn Suspension Bridge.
The event has a car park start and a postal finish. Controls en-route are all commercial.
The event is part of the Willesden SR series commemorating the centenary of WIllesden Cycling Club. If you complete this event or others in the series you get pre-qualification for Paris-Brest-Paris in 2027. For details of the full series see
The surplus from this event will go to Wheels For All, a nationwide charity that helps disabled people and those with long-term health conditions feel the exhilaration, joy, and empowerment of cycling.
For those preferring public transport you can get early trains to nearby stations just in time for the 6:30am start. The first trains on Sunday are at about 8am. Beaconsfield Services very near the end is open all night and there is a budget Ibis hotel next door.
