The outward scenery is varied and attractive ride through The Chilterns to Pangbourne. Next, through the Kennet Valley, the Hampshire Downs, the Test Valley with its string of pretty villages and ponds to Longstock. Then the northern and western fringes of the New Forest to Fordingbridge. Alresford is a small country town, terminus of the Watercress Line, with a big range of eating options. One last control at Winnersh and a run back through Maidenhead to the end with long stretches lit. Highlights of the ride include the alpaca farm just before Pangbourne, the view from the top of White Hill after Kingsclere and the Grade 1 Listed Hale Hall before Fordingbridge. For the slower riders the view of Basingstoke after dark can be spectacular.
