Description
55km cycling event, with control at Crathie. 1 checkpoint and 1 information control.
Explore the autumnal splendour of Royal Deeside and places associated with John Brown, Queen Victorias most famous highland servant. 25km of estate roads.
The entry fee includes refreshments at a checkpoint, and a useful finishing prize purchased from a charitable organisation. There will also be a raffle for a prize from our event hosts, Cyclehighlands.
You should have a bicycle, spare clothing and tools suitable for dealing with the terrain. The estate roads are generally gravel tracks with occasional tarmac sections, but they are not public tarmac roads. A spare tyre, warm layer and cycling shoes you can walk in are recommended. You may be up to 8km from a public road, with limited phone signal.
Toilets at start, 13km, 30km and just off-route at 25 and 35kms. Plenty of nearby accommodation: bothies, campsites, hostels and hotels. Ballater Hostel is recommended, and reserved for Audax UK and Rough Stuff Fellowship club members on Friday 2 October and Saturday 3 October.
