Description
A 104km winter ride, based on Dave El Supremo Hudsons Mince Pie Stollen 100 last run December 2010. There will NOT be any Mince Pies or Stollen this time, but there will be a Village Hall, instead of a layby control.
Starting and finishing in Hailsham.
Should the ride not occur owing to Ice and Snow on the planned date, I will allow riders to do the ride, minus the Village Hall, using GPX validation anytime during the following 7 days.
Remember that it is winter, and some lanes could be icy, but you have all day to complete the ride so go slowly and walk in places if needed.
The ride leaves Hailsham heading North to Horam, Waldron and near Cross in Hand for our first INFO, before heading East to Heathfield, Burwash, Etchingham and Robertsbridge, before heading to Cripps Corner, Broad Oak and Udimore Village Hall to CONTROL and Feed.
After Udimore we head through Winchelsea Beach for our second INFO. After riding behind the sea wall, we are soon at Pett Level, before the climb up Battery Hill to Fairlight. This is then followed by a couple of long descents to the seafront in Hastings. Since winter and to avoid the banks of shingle on the seafront cycle path, we continue on the A259 before rejoining CR2 in Bexhill. Soon we arrive in Cooden Beach for our final INFO. Returning via Sluice and Rickney Lanes we are soon back in Hailsham and our ARRIVEE CONTROL in the Freedom Leisure Café.
There will be a feed in Udimore. All food is included in the price and includes the expected hot or cold drinks, sandwiches and my wifes homemade cakes. I may lay on tomato soap if very cold.
Since a winter ride mudguards will be required in order to protect the chairs of the Village Hall.
