The Shark

Description

205km cycling event starting from Greenwich. Controls at Chiddingly, Mayfield and Greenwich., plus 1 information control.

This event has a mandatory route - you should follow the route instructions as closely as possible.

A hilly ride from the River Thames to The Channel and back, mainly using quiet lanes and B roads.

Starts from Cutty Sark Gardens, heads south out of London and across the North Downs, Greensand Ridge and High Weald to Chiddingly Village Hall for a full ACH-operated control with refreshments included. A scenic climb over the South Downs leads to the halfway point at the cafe on the beach at Seaford, where you can choose to stop or not. On the way back there is a 'free' control in the pretty medieval town of Mayfield, where you just need to get a receipt from one of the shops, pubs, etc. Finishes at the Old Brewery Pub in the grounds of Old Royal Naval College (ORNC). Eligible for the Grimpeurs du Sud award (https://sites.google.com/site/grimpeursdusud/). Route sheet and GPX track will be published and sent to all participants in the run up to the event once a final route-check ride has been done.
