Inverness 1200

Description

1204km cycling event starting from Clitheroe, Lancashire. Controls at Kirkby Stephen, Brampton, Moffat, South Queensferry, Perth, Braemar, Nairn, Kirkhill, Fort William, Tyndrum, Stirling, Abington, Gretna Green, Carnforth, Broughton and Clitheroe.

This event has a mandatory route - you should follow the route instructions as closely as possible.

A 1200 km Audax, long-distance cycling event from Lancashire to the Scottish Highlands and back again - in a weekend!

The route follows an anticlockwise circuit passing through: Lancashire; Cumbria; southern Scotland and on into the highlands. The return follows a western route passing Fort William; Lanarkshire and the A6 back to Lancashire.

An optional free breakfast will be provided before the start. This is primarily cereal & toast, tea/coffee/juice etc. Free food will also be available at the Inverness control (600 km). Food will be kept simple: typically beans on toast/pasta; rice pudding etc, but enough to fill you up! Food will be available for purchase at the other controls.

I plan on at least one manned control up near Inverness with a drop bag as per usual. Bag will be returned to Clitheroe ready for collection on arrival.
