Description

Controls at Tomintoul, Bellabeg and two information controls. A hilly 100km, which takes in the Lecht (643m), beautiful scenery and interesting historical sites. Will you be crushed by the Great Military Road, or live to fight another day?

If you like climbing, castles and bridges, you are in for a treat. The route goes over the Lecht (641m) twice to Tomintoul, before returning to Ballater via picturesque Strathdon. The routes takes in 3 castles and 5 beautiful bridges, with links to Isombard Kingdom Brunel, Major Caulfeild, and the Jacobite Earl of Mar.

The route goes over one of the highest road climbs in the UK, which can be exposed to crosswinds.

Price includes a snack at the start, and a finisher's prize purchased from a charitable organisation. Public toilets at start, 13km, 81km and 101km. In addition to the start facilities and controls, the route passes cafes at 13km, 32km and 68km.
