A Start of SummerTime 205k ride of two loops centred on Pound Street carpark, Petworth

This is an 'X' Rated event but simple food and drink will be provided at the Petworth Controls.

Start is in the Pound Street carpark (Behind Co-Op Store) in Petworth. This carpark is no longer free!

Final Welcome Letter, Route Sheet and GPX track will be available the week before the event following final checking.

Stage 1 (35km): initially leaving Petworth North on a main road for our first INFO before you turn West through Lurgashall and Fernhurst on country lanes. Further country lanes after Fernhurst take you West to Elmers Marsh before you head North to Liphook (INFO). From Liphook, you head Southwest on the former route of the A3 to Petersfield and the well-used Esso Petrol Station to CONTROL.

Stage 2 (46km): from Petersfield you head Southeast to South Harting before climbing Harting Hill over the South Downs, and then passing through Chilgrove to Lavant. After a short section on a main road in Lavant, you are soon skirting the North of Chichester to the next INFO. You return to Petworth via a main road, that includes a descent of Duncton Hill, before returning to Pound Street carpark to CONTROL.

Stage 3 (34k): returning through Petworth you are soon heading Southeast through Pulborough and Storrington into Steyning. Passing though Steyning you take the lanes to Coombes for an INFO.

Stage 4 (34k): retracing back to and through Steyning, before heading North to Partridge Green. From here you continue heading North on minor roads to join the A281 for a few hundred metres into Lower Beeding. You then remain on the B2110 into Handcross, before arriving at the Pease Pottage Services (near Crawley) to CONTROL.

Stage 5 (57k): leaving Pease Pottage you head West to Colgate before heading North through Faygate and Rusper. From Rusper you head Northwest towards Capel. A short section on the A24 is needed before turning West towards Cranleigh. The main road could have been used, but you are taken down the nicer route of Were Street, passing through Paynes Green, Oakwoodhill and Walliswood before reaching the outskirts of Ewhurst. Back on a main road you are soon in Cranleigh (INFO) before heading Southwest, passing through Alfold, Loxwood and Kirdford, before arriving for Arrivee at the Pound Street carpark.
